In the beginning of 2012 year Merford Cabins will deliver two cabins to Elma B.V. Soesterberg. After delivery the cabins will be installed on heavy lifting vessel the Saipem 7000. The Saipem 7000 is build in 1985 and is one of world's largest crane vassels. The Saipem 7000 has a lifting capability of more than 14,000 tonnes. The vessel is owned by the oil and gas industry contractor Saipem S.p.a. SAIPEM wanted to install one combined cabin for each crane for placing the controls of tuggers and winches. Each cabin consists of 3 separate rooms. The central ones will be used for installation of tugger control consoles while the 2 side ones will be used for clamp winches control consoles. Access is provided by 2 side entrance doors, one for each side and 2 sliding doors give access to the central cabin from the smaller one from each side. To meet the requirements Merford designed a complete new cabin. This cabin is especially designed to withstand the harsh offshore and dredging conditions. Special attention is paid to the cabin construction, temperature control, visibility, safety, ergonomics and reliability.
